Good discussion from all and previous posts on this:
1. It is my opiinion after talking to many and with the posts and emails that NSSR has recieved that we leave the World Records as is.
The World Records will remain in 2010 for all classes.
2. Chutes on 150 mph and above. The chutes are safe when designed for the weight and the estimated speed that you will run. Bikes are not a good application for a chute to the best fo my knowledge. NSDRA is talking to NHRA to allow chutes on asphalt sleds also. Talking to Stroud, the concern is based on the days when the chutes were not used for the right application and did stop the vehicle to fast. Sizing for the application is key. Chutes are already required in the open mod, super mod, and exhibition classes, so this is nothing new. However, we have not been good about checking the operation of these, and this is now on our to do list guys and gals.
Maybe the 150 mph requirement is a little low for the ice. I would say the 160 mph is a definite. 155? Thoughts on this?
3. I have had numerous calls on the clearance rule we discussed at the rules meeting last spring. There are quite a few sleds that will not meet the 3.5 inch bulkhead clearance rule from the front bumper to the trackFor the stock classes. All I have talked to are close or will meet a 2.5 inch Clearance rule. I would say based on the comments we will change this to 2.5 inch minimum.
Minimum clearance is 2.5 inches to the bulkhead for Stock and 1.5 inches for all other classes.
let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Thanks!
Ron
