February 8th Ernies on Gull Lake - Ice Check on Friday January 30 shows 18 to 19 inches of ice in the are from Shore to 200 yards out. We plan to start plowing on Thursday the 6th of February if not before. Ernies will be open for Breakfast on Saturday Morning, so please plan on eating there during set up and Registration
February 15th - Green Bay or Forest Lake - Both CANCELLED for NSSR Competition - As of now the Green Bay Drag Races will be moved to February 29th and will not have NSSR as a Speed Run Race, but will do their own radar Run. My plan was to pull permits for Forest Lake for the 15th, but an ice check on Friday the 31st resulted in not much gain! The area by shore had 15.5 inches with about 3 inches of white ice included, and out in the rest of the set up area I found 13 to 14.5 inches of total thickness with 3 to 4 inches of white snow ice frozen. Only about 4 to 6 inches of snow, but apparently too warm to make ice. Also, being in Forest Lake now on the 15th put us in direct conflict with the Center City Race, which is not good for local support of their event.
Someone plowed a road or test track to the North about 2oo yards out and it only had 14 inches of ice with 4 inches of white ice, so be careful on Forest Lake, folks are driving all over with fish houses and trucks, but I see they are staying a bit apart for now.
February 22nd - Chetek Winterfest, Wisconsin - still need ice! Rob is checking ice this weekend to provide update. This is still on the schedule for then, but know we need more ice to make this work. I hope to pull permits for Forest Lake for that same weekend as a backup plan. We can't go to Gull Lake as of now as they have a big celebration on Feb 22nd weekend called the Frozen Fore, still checking on this with the Businesses and the Sheriff.
