Todd Lewis, Pro Stock 1000 Competitor was in a bad crash on Saturday February 25th while in competition from what appeared to be a failure in the rear suspension.
He hit the bank just after the first speed trap after veering on a hard right line from the center of the track.
The speed registered at 138 mph at the second speed trap that he collided into and then launched off the track into the infield.
Todd's sled and he went over 400 feet in the snow, fortunately seperating from the sled.
Todd layed still in the snow until emergency personnel reached him and was concious and able to talk to the responders.
The Chetek Emergency Response team, along with NSSR officials were on the crash immediately and he was stapped on a back board for transport to shore where the ambulance was waiting.
He was taken to the Rice Lake Hospital for initial observation and then transferred to the hospital in Eau Claire, Wi for further review and a scan.
Fortunately he was released at about 6 PM from the Hospital on Saturday night after the crash.
I have been told he has a chipped vertabrae that the doctors said should be fine, along with breaking his wrist in two locations.
Along with this he had a bruised calf muscle and we know he will be quite sore for some time.
We are glad that Todd is doing better and wish him Gods Speed in recovery!
Keep Todd Lewis in your prayers as he recovers.
A special thanks to the Chetek Fire Department and the Emergency Personnel for their quick and appropriate handling of the crash!
Todd, hope you have a speedy recovery. Make sure to take it easy so that your able to get back out there and run again
