Folks,
We are all enjoying the great warm weather and saving on our heating bills! It appears that the winter in Minnesota and Wisconsin will remain very mild except for a slight cool down the weekend and early week.
The NSSR Crew worked hard to develop a great racing schedule for 2016, and we will maintain those relationships for 2017.
You need to stay close to the internet and we will provide regular updates here in the forums and the facebook page of NSSR.
We understand a lot of the area lakes have an average of 5 inches of ice if frozen, with still concern in flowing or spring areas. Remember, right now the ice is still not safe, so be careful as you go fishing or playing on it, it is thin!

There is no plan to shift races north to other lakes. It is just financially challenging to move a race without our sponsors being on board to support these, along with the additional travel costs for the crew.

For now as of January 05, 2016 here is where we are at:

The race in Fairmont scheduled for the 23rd of January is moved to February 20th, 2016

The race at Green Bay is CANCELLED for 2016 with them still having open water as of today and an east wind piling up more ice on shoreline, we look forward to getting this one done in 2017.

Forest Lake is staying on for February 13th right now so keep your fingers crossed. Hearing we have 5 to 6 inches in the race area now, so need some cold weather without a lot of snow.

Chetek is on as scheduled for the February 27th Winterfest.

Thanks for understanding and good luck with all your winter activities.

Call Stacy at 763-753-2261 or Ron at 612.360.1280 if you have questions.

Discussions with the Cokato Ridge Runners for the Howard Lake Race "Ice Fest" Currently scheduled for January 30th, Saturday, is pending a decision for January 15, as they would like to check the ice and see if the cold weather snap will make some ice. They were at 5 to 6 inches like most lakes in this area as of last Friday, while temps were still moderate. Keep your fingers crossed for some ice to be made.
Thanks!
Ron
