Folks,
The email you recieved from ISR is Legit and they have gone a new route with insurance!
They had high costs on the Drag Race, Snow Cross, and Hill Climbs - so it works out good for these groups.
Actually as I dig into it, K&K dropped ISR, due to claims with those races.
So, if we are to remain an ISR affiliate, we have to have their insurance also.
Therein lies cheaper rates for NSSR, about $300 per race, but each Racer and line crew is supposed to be insured at the $25 per race price.
If you have the Season pass because of other circuits, you are good, as one pass fits all.
The good thing with this, is that this is a nice race policy to have and will give you some good benefits not available in the past!
If you think about this, it is cheap for the racer and main crew.
WE have a decision to make.
Go with ISR or go with a seperate insurance program which has no coverage for the racer!
The seperate program will provide protection for NSSR and the Host/Sponsors only.
What do you guys and gals think.
With the seperate insurance, it will still raise what we charge at the track to $10 per racer as our overall cost will go up.
Let me know!

Folks,
AS an update, I have went online with USAC and it appears that the insurance for NSSR for each race will still be a minimum of $633 per event even with the new structure. This does not include testing on Friday as we have done in the past.
This policy again would only apply to NSSR for liability. The Pro Racers still need to have an ISR number and their own insurance policy.
For those of you who run other ISR venues, you need this anyway, so the cost is minimal for you.
For those of you who only do speed runs, this is an added cost to the racing. This is probably the majority of our competitors.
NSSR can get it's own insurance but it again is going up, hence I anticipate that there will be a $10 per race charge per driver, so an added cost to the racer of $20 per year with 4 events.
This route does not allow NSSR to be an ISR affiliate any longer and hence does diminish the prominence of our World Record System for Speed Runs.
That being said, I don't see anyone challenging NSSR for this accomplishment in the near future, in the US or Canada.
Also, the race competitors are completely on their own as far as not having any coverage and having to pursue this on their own.
Good to check you policies for health insurance, as with the new UCare guidelines, any incidence with competition are written out of coverage for most.
Opinions are appreciated.
Thanks!
Al,
Start adding all the costs up and it is scary.
It will be $200 extra to stick with ISR for a racer and one crew person at a minimum with 4 races.
I can't count when I spend a $1000 per asphalt race to freshen up the motor between events, it gets scary!
I am looking for comment on direction:
Option A: Do not be a member of ISR and then get our own insurance this year, probably add $5 per race to each racer, so $10 insurance fee per driver, and no accident insurance.
Option B: Stick with ISR and then pay the $25 per race ( The daily fee only has $5K accident insurance). plus the $5 fee for basic insurance. Again the racer and crew does get a $50K accident insurance policy if they pay the $150 Annual fee, and that is at any ISR race. Crew Members get the $50K accident insurance for $100 annual fee.
As Todd from ISR stated, most racers have NO insurance now to cover them, especially now with the new MnSURE.
Thoughts?
