We plan to start plowing Big Sandy on Sunday the 11th and make one wide track.
There is about 2 inches of frozen slush over 15 to 18 inches of ice as of yesterday.
There is 8 inches of packed snow from snowmobile traffic and 14 inches where it is not packed.
The road is plowed by Eagle Point as of yesterday out to the Island by the starting line.
I have been told there are isolated pockets of water/slush in small areas.
We have the DNR permit in hand, along with discussions are positive with Aitken County Sheriff.
We will plow from 10 AM on Sunday until Dark.
Anybody in the area who wants to help plow is welcome to join.
I have myself and one other with a V Plow on HD 2500 Chevy's as of now.
I have talked to the DNR and Wright County Sheriff for a backup plan in case we find unusable Ice, so there will
be a race on the 17th. As of today, I don't think we need it.
Thanks!
