Forest Lake has made progress, adding 1 to 3 inches of ice in the last few weeks. The parking area and starting line are currently at 14 to 16 inches.
It does go to 13 inches at 500 feet out, so stay in closer to shore.
We will park 3 rows of the Pros and larger truck trailers from the landing north to the starting line.
I am moving the starting line to the North about 300 feet to add good parking space.
The track area is at 12 to 14 inches as you go North, so that will only be NSSR vehicles and safety rigs in this area.
Lets go racing and be smart about parking.
As usual, you are on your own once you come down on the ice, so act accordingly.
Our information is only to inform you of what we have found.
Thanks and call me if you have questions!

Al,
Guys that drilled some holes at Rush Lake, probably not good with the warm temps, but was told there was only 12 inches to 15 inches in part of the parking area.
Either way, the 16 plus I seen in the parking and starting line area on Friday should be at 18 or more on Saturday.
We will space out the trailers and I will drill the lake again tomorrow.
Weather is working with us now.
Plan B is to have the trailers come out and drop their race equipment and park in the paved parking area.
The large City lot is available for our use as there is no other events in town that day.

Good News!
The ice check today and thanks to Rani for doing this! I did give him the official NSSR Ice measure gauge as it seems some rulers are not all the same. A wooden stick provided by our attorneys Rinke Noonan and it is straight on!

We are now at 18 inches in the Parking and starting line area.
So, we have added 1 to 2 inches since the hot weekend and that is only 2 colder nights.
We have 3 nights to go before race day giving us the chance to add another 2 inches or more.

That being said, the Sheriff has asked that we do spread out so I am looking to have 10 to 12 feet between trailers and also 3 rows of trailers and trucks at 5 feet apart, with the first line pulling into the shore line. remember the parking area for the most part is at about 3 feet of depth, and this one reason why we run the shoreline. I am seeing Temp predictions of anywhere from 8F to 20F on Saturday, so we are not going to be seeing the melt down like last weekend.

As I mentioned, we are moving the starting line another 300 feet north which will add room for 45 rigs with 3 rows. This will take some out of the shutdown, but it has always been at 2600 feet past the 1000 foot timers.

As normal, we recommend you exercise caution on the lake with travel, as the middle of the lake does not have the same conditions and as usual, you travel on the ice at your own risk as the rest of us do.

Let me know if you have questions.

Trailer and Truck Parking.
It is up to the owner what is good. NSSR only has the race if we feel it is safe to be out on the ice. There are always different intricacies with the ice and its development.
There is parking in the public lot, and a lot of it, so use it if you are at all nervous.
Drop your sleds on the ice with a pop up and go racing!

I know that the ice on Rush was from 12 to 15 inches and it was warm. Also, the ice at Lake Miltona was at 15 inches with no issues, just about 5 degrees colder up there on Saturday.

Good deal is that it is at 18 inches in the parking and starting line area as of last night.
Good news is that it is only about 3 feet by shore for quite a ways out.
Park out on the ice at your own risk! This is not new, as NSSR takes no liability with this, we just let you know what we find and you are welcome to come drill holes outside of the track area.
I will say that we have had races on 15 inches at both Menomonie and Cable with no issues.
I personally feel good with 18, but we check a lot of locations.
Good news also that we are still making ice for Saturday, 3 more nights of freezing, so I would not be surprised if it is at 20 inches.
Good news that we have limited snow cover!
Good news is that it will not be 40 F degrees on Saturday with snow melt on top making soft ice, it will be frozen!
