Ladies and Gentlemen,
We have looked at options to try to keep this race going, but it is with sadness that we need to cancel.
Get those sleds ready for January 28th in Forest Lake is the best we can say for now.
NSSR has always tried and succeeded in the last years to keep races going and on schedule. Somehow we have pulled it off, but this time it is not good. Mother Nature is kicking our butt on ice!
There was some hope earlier this week with the forecast, but that has gone with the revised temps being even warmer and well above the 0 degree mark.
Pleasant Lake at Annandale is at best 9 inches and holding its own right now.
We checked further north to our old reliable Birch Lake at Hackensack and that is at 12 to 13 inches. We have actually applied for permits in Hackensack, but have not had a positive response.
We cannot take rigs on this ice and it virtually makes it impossible to even do the shaving and plowing of the shavings that we need to do to have the level of professional track for our racers.
Best we can do now is hope for a week of below zero weather and no snow.
We will need this even for Forest Lake at this time.
It may be possible to reschedule this race to a later date, but it is tough to work around schedules of the whole crew as they have plans made for the off weekends with family.
We are looking more serious at a make up race in conjunction with the Hackensack Spring Nationals held by NSRG on March 10th.
We will also look to a race on February 18th in Annandale as a possibility. Again this is challenging with scheduling crew and would mean only a week of time for racers to repair problems from the previous weekend, if there are some.
Lets hope for colder weather!
Thanks!
The Crew at NSSR
