Gearing help on a 440 stocker

Have an 03 Polaris 440 sled weighs 450 pounds motor makes 105 horse and spins 8400 rpm. Currently have stock gearing at 19_43 and sled tops out at 75mph. Looking to run between 100-105mph. What would be a good baseline gear set up to achieve those speeds

if you look at the tabs on the main site, there is a MPH calculator which you enter your gear ratio, rpm, and driver diameter it'll give you a broad span of what ratios will get you what mph. Some of the more experienced guys here might be able to throw some ratios at you that will work, but the MPH calculator will get you a good baseline. Gear for 10 mph or so more than your goal.

Thank you for the help. If my math is correct at a 1.58 ratio at 8500 rpms it will run 115.3mph with 24-38 gearing. Does this sound right to you?

Gearing the 1.58 is in the ballpark, but may vary with your sled.

All I can say is that leaving everything else the same and the sled will fall on its face the first pass.

1. Motor needs to be top notch to pull those gears.
2. Driveline needs to wheel free with no resistance.
3. slide lubers are a must.
4. your existing clutching will be no good, so start over and get a clutching combo that will work with the gears.

The mistake most speed runners make is that they do not stick with the gears and come up with a new clutch combo.
Bottom line is that you will not run a number unless your pull all the gear that you can.
